The Recording Courses were started by Vincent Testa, musician and producer, headphoneswho saw the need for musicians to be educated in the basics of studio techniques without going through extensive electronics training. The very first course was given at Trod Nossel Recording Studios.

The course is intended for musicians / home recordists who wish to gain an understanding of multitrack recording. Audiophiles can gain greater appreciation and enjoyment of their recordings. Those doing live sound work can use much of the data presented (even though the course is not specifically aimed at sound reinforcement). Those interested in recording as a career can get a good coverage of the basics. Experienced producers and sound mixers will benefit from the course also.

An Outline Of Subjects In The Course:

There are demonstrations given every theory section, along with reading assignments (utilizing the "Practical Recording Techniques" book in conjunction with the course, and practical exercises to do at home. Students are advised to take notes during class. The practical section of the course is a series of recordings with artists or bands. Students participate by setting up microphones and operating the console during the sessions. THIS IS A HANDS-ON COURSE. There is a minimum of 20 hours of theory and 20 hours of recording sessions in Modern Recording Techniques #1. An advanced course, MRT #2 is available in which there are between 32-40 hours (depending on session length) of recording sessions over an 8 week period.

At the end of both classes students receive an MRT Certificate of Completion.
