Wallingford, CT -
August 25, 2010 - After a full year of "artist
shopping," Trod Nossel Artists has finally found what it
considers to be one of the hottest unsigned hidden teen
talents in the East. Trod Nossel Artists, the artist
management division of the historical
Trod Nossel Productions and Recording Studios, opened
its roster in 2009, just under 5 years since the untimely
death of the mastermind and founder of the company, Thomas
'Doc' Cavalier. The oral surgeon turned music mogul,
referred to by all as 'Doc,' was well known as a pioneer in
the field of the recording arts, paved the way for artists
and musicians from all walks of life, and was a grammy-nominated
producer and manager for the likes of Cub Koda, various
business ventures with Rolling Stones producer/manager,
Andrew Loog Oldham, and a catalyst for springboarding
and guiding the careers of many other local and regional
artists over the years.
Since the dust has settled, current owners, Cavalier
siblings Darlene, Tommy and Robbie, had set their sights on
finding a diamond in the rough with which to hit the ground
running. "We had been looking at many acts over the last
year for something young, fresh and spectacular for our
roster, but for every reason under the sun, none really fit
our high expectations," says Darlene Cavalier, CEO and
Executive Director who has slipped into Doc's role. "I
believe everything happens for a reason, and I'm so grateful
that the cards fell where they landed that night back in the
spring. We knew it would be very clear when the right one
came along. We keep saying he was dropped in our laps from
heaven. This kid just really 'gets it' and he needed
literally zero development." It is the night she came upon
Beau Badrick, who she found in her quest while auditioning
bands. "He was with another band at the time, but there was
no question, he was the star." Shortly after that initial
contact, the band parted ways, and Beau's solo career was
born. "I had made contact and had sent this kid, 'No
Good To Cry,' from our catalog, originally done in 1967
by the Wildweeds, and within only a few hours, he sent back
an amazing rendition of the song, as if he had written it
himself. The song was already a hit, but he made it a
new hit, even with his acoustic version of it. He said
he drove around listening to it for about 30 minutes, then
played all the parts in a friend's garageband program to
make the demo for us. After now having had the opportunity
of seeing him work with my own eyes and ears, I see now how
he pulled it off," she says. "I couldn't believe what he
did to that song," says Tommy Cavalier, who is extremely
selective and meticulous when it comes to picking talent,
and is the exclusive agent to some top name touring
musicians through the Miracle Concerts division, "I was
totally blown away. I asked my sister, 'who is this
kid?!'" Once the deal was inked on August 4, 2010, they
immediately re-recorded the track with their own studio
musicians on drums and guitar, and Beau, whose main
instrument is piano, played and arranged everything else
live. The song is due to be part of his 14-song debut CD
release entitled, "Dreaming
Still," which is currently in production.
The Cavalier's claim that Beau continued to amaze them in
the studio. "He would come up with parts and songs right on
the fly, and then they all just work," says Rob
Cavalier who spent a good part of the 21 days in the studio
tracking the entire album right through many nights along
with several Trod engineers, staff and Beau's family.
"We're all very excited about this artist." They attribute
his comprehensive musical maturity to his influences: The
Beatles, Billy Joel, Elton John, John Mayer and some newer
artists. "He's rock -- definitely rock, through and
through, but he crosses the line into pop and also has a
dramatic flavor to his work a la Queen, Pink Floyd - but
very current. The music biz really needs Beau Badrick -
he's that missing ingredient the industry has been waiting
to hear these last several years," Darlene says. Badrick is
also a classically trained vocalist.
No stranger to the stage, Beau, at the age of only 7, began
working as an actor and singer at the popular and historic
Ivoryton Playhouse in Connecticut. This summer he was in a
production of The Buddy Holly story. He has done too many
live performances with his former band, as well as various
other productions, to count, and several new tour dates are
forthcoming. Besides performing and singing, he is a
multi-instrumentalist and a prolific songwriter bringing
with him an arsenal of songs. The management company has
signed him to a publishing deal under one of their 10
publishing companies, and a production deal with undisclosed
information, players and producers for that project.
Born on the north shore of Long Island, NY and settled on
the Connecticut shoreline since the age of 3, Beau Badrick,
who is 17, certainly will appeal to the tween and teen
record buying public, but "he also has that mass appeal we
were looking for," says the Cavalier trio. "Not only is he
a rare talent and will cross age barriers and genres, but he
is unique in his traditional values, which is highly unusual
for a 17 year old in this day and age. We expect he will be
a tremendous role model as well - you just can't help liking
him."
