The Regulators recently released their CD entitled, "No Trespassing." Since 1996, director, Gus Cuccia, has been leading the western themed fife and drum corps out of Dover Plains, NY, known as, "The Regulators." The name came from an old western term regarding Billy the Kid's gang. In the late 1800's, Billy the Kid and a gang of cowboys sought revenge for the cold blooded murder of a father figure to the kid, John Tunstall. Billy the Kid's gang "self deputized" themselves because the lawmen at the time were working for the Murphy-Dolan cattlemen who would stop at nothing to keep their monopoly on the cattle and merchant trade secure. Although they were outlaws and murderers, The Regulators considered themselves the "good guys," looking for justice for a friend.

The Regulators fife and drum corps modeled their uniforms according to the period and looked back to their influences for the style of ancient music they would play, and incorporated the sounds of bands such as The CT Yanks, NY Regimentals, Bethpage Colonials and CT Blues.

During their first year together the band booked as many as 25 firemen's parades, won their way into the Northeasterns, competing in the Northeastern Competition three times and walking away twice with the award for Best Sr. Fife & Drum Corps.

The Regulators are a family oriented drum corps having several corps members which are husband and wife, and in some cases, their children. The close-knit bunch consider each other, their supporters and fans, and anyone who has inspired them, "PALS," just as the word is inscribed on a tombstone where Billy the Kid and two other Regulators were buried.
